All American Renewed For Season 8: The Crenshaw/Beverly Legacy Continues

The Crenshaw/ Beverly Legacy Continues

The CW has announced that the hit television series All American has been renewed for its eighth and final season!

A STORY BIGGER THAN FOOTBALL

All American is a sports drama series that follows the life of star student – athlete Spencer James, played by Daniel Ezra. A native of South Central Los Angeles, Spencer navigates the different culture dynamics from his home neighborhood, Crenshaw, to his newly adopted life in Beverly Hills. Audiences are taken through Spencer’s journey through evolving relationships with his family, friends, and his own identity. The coming – of – age series explores themes of family, friendships, ambition, and the challenges of consolidating different socioeconomic backgrounds.

The show initially caught the attention of viewers across a variety of demographics as many of us found ourselves invested in the teenage lifestyles of Spencer and his peers. This could have been a result of the diverse representation exhibited in the show. However, after season 6 there seemed to be a shift in interest as the show announced that many of its main characters, including Daniel Ezra would not be making a reappearance. Many fans of the show were understandably not too thrilled about this information and were skeptical about tuning in to the show.

SEASON 7: A NEW GENERATION

Then came Season 7.

Let’s be honest – it surprised a lot of us.

The show took a new direction, introducing fresh faces like Amina, Khalil, KJ, and Tori, while still holding onto familiar ones like Jordan, Layla, and Coop. The narrative steered away from its central focus of the Crenshaw/Beverly divide and leaned more into personal development, self – reclamation, and building individuality. Though there are still subtle mentions of the economic differences, remaining faithful to the O.G. storyline, it is not where our focus lies.

WHAT SEASON 7 LEFT US WITH

Season 7 ended with a wild cliffhanger, leaving many questions unanswered about certain relationships, the academic futures of our characters, and a very important football game.

  • What’s next for these characters?
  • Where do the relationships stand?
  • What about football?

Many people would love a reunion with the OG cast, but it seems like the show is sticking with the newly acquired storyline.

So question is:

Will Season 8 be the sendoff this series truly deserves?
